A Question to the Saffron Brigade

"A land of Hypocrites" is what I have thought as a title for a book which I might write someday. I know you might ponder for a minute “what is the title of my blog” and “title of my book” in common and related to. So, here we go to my logic explanation theme.

It all started few days back on a Saturday when a Saffron brigade which calls themselves as army of Ram raided a pub and thrashed everybody. Next day newspaper the leader of that army of miscreants on allegations of brutalizing and hitting women commented as I quote " Our people did not raise any arm on women, we only thrashed the men who accompanied the women and we escorted the women outside " he also claimed that external forces are trying to spoil the images of his followers. Now, reality turns out when a news channel shows the video of the same people thrashing women in public.

What was more shameful than that was that the media which always spoke against such stuff were only covering it and not trying to stop it. They just witnessed it like eunuchs when helpless women were beaten around by men in a barbaric fashion yet nobody raised a voice.

On seeing the video everybody condemned but the so called leader of that faction Mr. Pramod Mutalik releases a statement that it was just to condemn the Pub Culture that it flourishing in India which is western and not our "Culture" the media was waiting for such an opportunity to flounder their media war in terms of coverage while everybody was awaiting for the response of our State Chief Minister with all respects Mr. B.S. Yediyurappa's comments and actions on the same. In the beginning all the perpetrators will be reprimanded but within few days he released a press statement “Pub Culture is not our "Culture" I’ll not let flourish in Karnataka ".

A week later after this event 3rd International Women's Conference is held at Bangalore but nobody spoke about this matter. Isn't it a real form of hypocrisy? Now to some more facts I will not deny that the act of brutality on young girls was not condemned many personalities have condemned the same. I really appreciate that but what about the people who mattered what did they do other than staging such ideals for hypocrisy?

An idealist once told our country will be developed when a Woman can walk on the roads at night without any fear. Well but we are moving to an age where she cannot even go anywhere in broad daylight as well. The so called Moral Police of Mr. Mutalik attacked pubs but they are not bothered about the liquor shops which are within 100 meters of a hospital, a school or a holy place. They do not see every rape happening in India with in a time of 20 minutes. They are blind to see forced prostitution that happens everywhere. Mr. Mutalik for your information Asia's biggest and World's third biggest brothel is in India in Kolkata why are you not stopping that. Is brothel and prostitution in our so called "Culture"? Since you are so much concerned with our culture in the same culture we revere our parents equal to gods even it is written " Matru Devo Bahav, Pitru Devo Bhava, Acharya Devo Bhava" so if all these are true then why do we have so many old age homes. Why are you not raising voices against them?

One more important matter which needs urgent attention is female feticide and abortion, do you know that in India alone every 5 minutes there is an abortion happening somewhere. What about that is it our culture? These are the gist of all the things which are beyond the pub culture and actually the evils. I guess who will get front page coverage if you concentrate on them right.

Our culture says that we should keep our women equal to god, not just because our culture says I am telling she is equal to god because only god has the ability to create life and she does create you, bear you and fend for you and raises you to be a good human. You ordered to hit the same women so isn't it equal to sinning against god. You told the press when it cornered you saying that there were women inside the pub in such a condition that it could not be shot as they were almost stripped of clothes and ready to shoot an adult movie. We cannot give you the benefit of doubt as you do not have any proof. Even if they were in such a condition you should have called Police and not beaten helpless women. Even your sister faction recently commented whatever you guys did was just it proves one point the biggest enemy of a woman is another one.

Now, to the actual beating how many of the members of your faction have actually hit or molested them in that time. Are you sure that every one of them is a saint and none of their hands ventured in to their body parts? Ok we will give you a benefit of doubt there. But reality is different sir. As, one of our benevolent reporters from a leading Kannada daily asked don't your memebers drink? Please look in to your own gown before pointing spots in others.

We call ourselves a developed / developing country when a girl cannot walk without fear on the streets. You condemn clothes this generation has adopted. Again to tell you, even trousers were not from our culture. Why do we wear them? Dhotis’ are our culture however, we should live with time. I know you have told women can wear jeans but not revealing clothes. Honestly, tell me whether a woman is fully covered or wearing revealing clothes, people can make her feel that she is not wearing anything just by their eyes. Jus to deviate a bit from topic you know this duality is in all of our blood actually we all are hypocrites, you want to know why? We raised a big voice when Mallika Sherawat was sporting a bikini for some movie because she is an Indian and it is not our culture. It was tossed around by media like a tossed salad. However, every one of us is comfortable in seeing bikini clad white women (western foreigners) dancing for some song of a remix video or movie song.

Now returning to the topic, Do we need such moral policing about our culture? Who decide this is our culture and this is not? Our culture says there is nothing wrong in taking good from any culture. I am not saying this is good that is bad but isn't good or bad a psychological thing? Actually good or bad depends on which side of the line you are standing. No culture is perfect I agree to that even ours. If anybody wants to argue I have points like Caste System, Religion, Language, God etc. You also had told since the parents were not responsible in telling them guidance you had to do it the stick method. Now, I am asking you if you had children and tomorrow somebody beats your children like animals in the road will you say since I was responsible for making them responsible they deserve it. Who gave you the right to hit somebody else's kids?

You cannot stop anybody, from doing anything that too against their will because they lead their life and if you talk about my culture or our culture. I will ask one thing to all the readers as well as Mr. Mutalik. Who made this culture? Who decided this is ours and that is not? Some individual or a group called society. Its motive might be to have a governance model but why so that it can differentiate among people and dominate everybody. Culture, religion, language are huge trees and have deep roots nobody can do anything to ruin this. So stop being a guardian to our culture.

If there is cow dung on the road all you can do is say there is cow dung be careful when you walk to anybody yet if the person is adamant in stepping on the cow dung it’s his will and wish. You have no right to stop it. The same way if anybody wants to follow some other culture it is his life and not yours let him / her follow that. Don't force your views on others. If you really want to tell generation about our culture hold workshops in schools, colleges this is where generation takes shape. If everybody was like Hitler then world would not have been a place to live. Please use your workshops to add values in their lives, values which are not negotiable for any reason. If you apply force then you will reach no where. Give the youth an ability to judge right and wrong in short rational thinking. If you are able to generate at least one person in a batch who can think and differentiate things then you will do India far better good than anybody could. However, if you use the same workshops for systematic brain washing. Then please answer the question i will post at last.

I also did not fail to notice your recent threats to everyone saying, you are against the Day Culture i.e. Father's Day, Mother's Day and yeah how can I forget Valentine's Day. Also your threats saying if you find any boy and girl together you will drag them to temple and get them married.

Now if you are against Day culture please stop, Teachers' Day, Children’s' Day, Independence Day, Republic Day why are you not targeting those it’s also a form of Day celebration. If you say it is ours then you are biased with this. I know I am wrong in comparing my examples with yours but my point is stop associating things with the day but associate things with feelings and emotions. You also told if they want to celebrate let them do it entire year. I want to ask you Sir, do we celebrate birthday all the days of the year, Ugadi we celebrate it only one day of the year why not all the days. It is because everything has its prominence on a particular day. I know that father's Day or Mother's Day or Women's day all have been hyped by greeting card companies to make money but why are you so worried about when it is celebrated understand the feelings that go behind them. I personally work and do not get time even to sit talk with friends but if I send my friends a card saying Happy Friendship day thanks for being a part of my life and making it beautiful. What wrong does it do for our culture? Answer this question please.

Now for Father's Day /Mother's Day or Women's Day has anyone who is reading this also ever went and told your parents “Thank you" for what they have done for you. Have you ever hugged them and said "I am really lucky that you were in my life"(If you have already told I salute you) so if a card or a day can do it then what is wrong in celebrating it. If something is not doing anything wrong or bad (again perception differs) why simply make a fuss saying it is harming our culture?

Now to major one in the list Valentine's Day to be honest I actually found your statement funny as I found your foolishness to be obvious. If you find a girl and boy together take them to temple and get them married. Has anyone told you that you are narrow minded? Do you see every boy and girl as lovers? Can't they be siblings, cousins, and friends? If you have an idea about Valentine's Day as lovers day, then it is just a foul play of media and greeting card companies. It is the day of love and if you say love is only between boys and girls then only god can save the people who follow people like you. This is a day where you can tell your friend’s family and everybody how much love you have for them. It is not lover's Day it is a day for love. Love can be Brotherly / Motherly / Fatherly & Friendly. Please don't follow the wrong notion put forward by gift companies, greeting card companies for their benefit. Imagine a world without love and emotions, how brutal would it be. There would be no like or attachment because there is no love. Love is the most beautiful thing from this world.

Now a humble request, to everybody who are concerned about Culture and morality. Please do not waste your time on motives of other people, they are jobless they have an ulterior motive. You will be stuck with criminal cases your wives and families will lament your absence at home while you spend time in jail. People who instigate this have a motive to get publicity that is all in them. Has anybody thought why was this sudden our culture movement started just before assembly elections could start? Publicity and no other motive. This will not run for a long time. Our state practically runs on liquor and mining incomes do you think any government will put a ban on it.

So please do not waste your time for such people.

Well if the Saffron Brigade actually did something they are not just the people responsible we also are, it is because we kept watching them do whatever they wanted and now all we are doing is writing these blogs and protests. I request everybody next time you see some incident like Mangalore Incident then please take responsibility joins hands and thrash everybody. They can be hundred or thousand but the mass will be much bigger than them and easily outnumber them. They will scare people who get scared easily. Just a point related to taking responsibility, we are blaming Kasab and Pakistan for 26/11 attacks. They are not the ones responsible we are actually each indivdual is we take everything for granted, security at a bus terminus nobody checks the bags even after the bombing incidents. Blamed should be the people who are from India born in this soil, still help external forces to transport materials. Until each one of us does not start taking responsibility for real there will be 100 Kasabs and millions of terrorists from everywhere. Responsibility is not an erection that comes only when you are in a mood. That mood is if you watch movies like Rang De Basanti, Black Friday or Chak De or incidents like 26/11 or 7/11 bombings because these moods are forgotten as soon as media stops speaking about those. It should be the mantra of life.

Please take responsibility. As for the Saffron faction of India, why don't you go and hunt terrorists? Oh sorry please don't do it as you will kill everybody of minority saying he / she is a terrorist.

Wel coming back to the main issue, I want to applaud for all the people who have stood against Mr. Mutalik and his Saffron Faction.I hope spirit of free India will reflect from you. Now the question to Saffron Brigade. "How do you differentiate yourself with Taliban?"

I know it was a long post, but just to make clear I am not in favor or against any Saffron Faction or any party or person. I just want to condemn what is wrong.
