Movie Review : Bruno

Kamal Hassan made Dashavataram in which he played 10 characters in a single movie, though his acting potential was utilized to an extent but the ten characters had one fault except one or two in others you could easily recognize him. However, here is a actor (I guess it would be an understatement if I call him an Actor he is a performer) whom in time we have forgotten how he looks like actually. The many of many faces, I introduce you to Sacha Baron Cohen a British Comedian who has taken comedy to a different level. This movie is all about his character Bruno from the Ali G show.

Movie Description

Bruno is yet another Mockumentary Genre from Sacha Baron Cohen his last movie Borat was hysterical and funny to the core a movie about a cultural learning of a journalist ‘Borat Sagdiyev’ from Kazakhstan (sad news not released in India) and prior to that ‘Ali G InDaHouse’ another movie revolving around his wanna-be gangster character ‘Ali G’.

Bruno is an Austrian Homosexual Fashion Reporter who has his own show “Funkyzeit” on the fashion segment of the channel. After he ruins a fashion show by his antiques he is fired from the channel and that’s when he decides to go to America and become a famous Gay Movie Star like Arnold Schwarzenegger. This starts the fuse for all the events that comes ahead. If you watch this movie expecting he humor like Borat then you are on a way of disappointment however, if you watch it as a fresh encounter with Sacha then yes you will have fun. I cannot write much about the movie as it is a mockumentary and if I speak anything then it will reveal the plot.

Rating

I have considered this movie under the genre of mockumentaries for reviewing. The movie is a situational comedy and satirical acts which make it stand out of its predecessors. If I compare to Borat this movie suffers from creative plot development. Though this movie is hysterical still it is in segments as it is not a laugh riot which starts from beginning to the end. I give it a 2 / 5 for the movie and an extra 0.25 for the NBC channel Pilot shot by Bruno and an extra 0.25 for the mime make out scene of Bruno with the spirit of deceased Rob Pilatus of Milli Vanilli fame so overall rating is 2.5 / 5.

Verdict

This movie is not everybody’s cup of tea like Borat. Some will find it offensive, some shocking and some humorous. I will give you two reasons why you should watch this movie

1. No matter how much liberal we are with respect to media this movie will not be released in India. If it does then it’s not worth watching the movie as everything will be cut. If it’s released with ‘A’ Rating then also the Moral Police will burn down the theaters. So watch it.

2. How often do you get a chance to see a person showing courage to the maximum levels. If you say stunt shows or reality dramas then those are pre-fixed. This movie shows the courage of an actor who stays true to a character even in the worst case scenario. Even when he was chased by an angry mob for his clothing in Palestine.

Overall - My verdict is watch it as you will find humor in a different way.

My weekend 28 - 30

The start of my weekend usually begins the same way as it is beginning for the past 6 - 8 weeks. Yeah thanks to our Inter-Process Cricket Matches. I got a nice chance to try sports photography. It turns out that i can do a bit of sports photography. So the same way i was invited to do some sports photography for the last league match of the tournament. I was prepared as i finished my work earlier than usual. I have made real improvement over the weeks all thanks to Rohan. Since all the players were ready they decided to start the match by 6.30 AM and not the usual 7.30 AM. I told others i will meet them in the ground, i moved to do my laundry.

I was the first one at the laundromat, I am grateful and will always remain grateful to my company for this facility. I was about t leave for the ground as i noticed it was sunrise and i was having this beautiful sunrise shot. I took out my camera loaded the memory card and was try to focus then i realized that i had left the battery for the camera in the charger at home I now had two options in my hand one being going home and getting the battery the other being simply going to the field and saying i forgot the battery forgive me. I chose the latter and i went there spent sometime. I watched the game and told the other team will win within 10 overs. I went to collect my laundry from laundromat. On return to the ground i noticed that the opposite team was almost about to win and they won within 9.3 overs.

I left for home and on the way i purchased some fruits and juices and some tender mangoes for myself and some to be sent to mom as she loves that. We don't get the tender ones so easily as compared to here. I also got some food parceled and came home noticed there was no water then rigged the pup to get water, had food and watched a movie, then went and sleep. I woke up in the evening at 4.00 PM. I wanted to play Need or Speed Most Wanted and I did actually because I wanted this opponents car and i was playing over and over till i finally won it. Then i left and tried to send he package which i was late and missed the carrier bus. called up mom and told her will be sending it tomo.

I had food and hit the sack early, woke up pretty early on Sunday morning and watched some movies. I spent whole day at home in the evening i left out dropped moms parcel and got some food from outside. I had food and watched MTV Roadies. I slept early as i wanted to wake up early and i did so i could get a sunrise photo shoot. I did have some fun over the sunrise photo shoot. I came back home watched another movie. I slept now few minutes back i woke up and now I am posting this.

I also noticed a coincidence on Saturday evening while surfing channels on TV i bumped in to the movie 'Jab We Met' a very nice movie, it was on some channel. On Sunday while surfing channels I again hit 'Jab we met' on Zee TV. Now what is the coincidence it is i jumped to the movie spot exactly where i had jumped in to yesterday. I also watched Lagaan only during breaks of my other show. I also watched Charlotte's web only few minutes.
